Jack Dorsey’s Bluetooth messaging app Bitchat now on App Store
Twitter and Block founder Jack Dorsey has launched Bitchat on iOS. The app, whose core was coded in a single July weekend, enables users to communicate without internet or cell service via Bluetooth mesh networks.
Messages can be sent to anyone within roughly 100 meters. This feature makes it especially suitable for festivals, protests, or disaster zones where conventional communication may fail.
The interface is stripped down, requiring no registration. Users are greeted by a live chat feed and can set or modify a display name at any time, giving them control over their identity.
Although Dorsey hasn’t issued a direct statement, he amplified a warning on X about fake Bitchat apps on Google Play, stressing that no Android version is available yet.
