Nvidia to Fuel UK AI Growth with £2bn Investment

Nvidia will inject £2bn into the UK’s AI start-up ecosystem, describing the move as part of the “age of AI.” The initiative will include investments in Revolut and Wayve, according to CEO Jensen Huang.

In its September 18 statement, Nvidia said the funding aims to accelerate AI technologies, foster new businesses and create jobs in the UK. The programme is being run in collaboration with venture capital firms Accel, Air Street Capital, Balderton Capital, Hoxton Ventures and Phoenix Court.

The chipmaker highlighted that the capital will be channelled into “AI Growth Zones” and advanced tech hubs in cities such as London, Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester.

The announcement coincides with a broader $40bn package unveiled earlier this week by Nvidia, Microsoft and OpenAI to advance AI in the UK. Microsoft alone invested $30bn, its largest-ever commitment in the country, while OpenAI launched the Stargate project and Nvidia joined CoreWeave, Nscale and Microsoft in building $15bn worth of AI factories.

Separately, Nvidia said it would buy $5bn in Intel stock. Both companies have agreed to work together on next-generation data centre and PC solutions.
