Threads Adds Long-Form Text Sharing in New Test

Meta confirmed that Threads is experimenting with a new “text attachment” feature that allows users to share long-form text in a single post. The feature helps users express ideas without creating multiple posts or using workarounds like screenshots.

The feature, discovered on iOS by Radu Oncescu, provides styling tools to share deeper thoughts, news excerpts, or book snippets. Posts display the content in a gray box, which readers can click to scroll through the full text, as demonstrated by user Robert P. Nickson.

By allowing long-form content, Threads may retain writers and content creators who previously shared material on blogs or platforms like Substack. Unlike X’s Articles, which are limited to Premium users, Threads’ feature is currently open to everyone.

Although it currently supports only text, Meta may consider adding multimedia in the future. This feature is the latest in Threads’ expansion, which also includes custom feeds, AI enhancements, DMs, and fediverse integration, helping the platform grow to over 400 million monthly users.
